Baking for Baker Road Bakery

On Friday, the last day of school and graduation, I came home from work and began baking for the market. On Saturdays throughout the summer I plan to be at the Green Market in Ogdensburg,NY. Saturday it rained. The rain really ruins Tim's coffee labels. Tim left early and went down to the market only to find pouring rain. He had to return home. We plan to be at the market on Saturday July 3rd so if you're in the area, please stop by. I do want to share what's going to available so far. Hopefully, I'll have even more to choose from by the time Saturday rolls around!

Here's the finished chocolate chip cookie dough just before it goes onto the cookie sheet and into the oven to bake.

This is the Whoopee Pie spelled the old Maine way, after being frosted. This is what the filling looks like before the top is put on the whoopee pie. Very light and fluffy!

The HMS Bounty in Ogdensburg

This wonderful tall ship was my adventure yesterday. I had heard that it would be in the Ogdensburg port and just had to go and check it out. It's the HMS Bounty built in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia for MGM Film Studios' 1962 movie, Mutiny on the Bounty starring Marlon Brando. Now I ask you, who could resist climbing aboard the very same ship that Marlon Brando was on?  This very same ship was also used for Treasure Island, Yellow Beard, Sponge Bob Square Pants, and Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean-Dead Man's Chest.

When I climbed aboard this tall ship, I was taken back to my childhood days and Mystic Seaport where I spent a great deal of time with my grandmother. We would go through and look at and read about everything! It was always fun and always interesting. Many of the children and children at heart, had that same gleam in their eye as they toured this vessel. I just kept thinking about our song and the tall ships and getting pictures to show my students. It was a lot of fun!

The height of the masts is what I always find amazing. The way it all fits together to form a most picturesque ship in full sail. It was a wonderful experience indeed!

How Many Computer Crashes Can On Person Take?

Not really growing up with computers and cell phones and iPods etc., these technological devices are sometimes as much of a struggle as they are anything else. As you all know, my computer crashed. I was able to recover much of my stuff, thankfully, the short time since I purchased that one to the replacements, much as changed. The changes coupled with 2 crashes on my work computers has been just a bit too much to take! As I struggle to recover, I've learned a lot more about backing things up!!! My blog posts have been slim to none and I apologize for that. It isn't that I don't have anything to write about, it's that I'm caught in a sea of confusion. I am sorting through it and planning to come out  ahead and hopefully a little bit more prepared should these events occur again.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of taking a word press workshop. I'm now in the process of learning and doing and redoing. So this post is just to let you know that I'm on the case and I'm working really hard to get all of this new stuff down and plan to present some incredible stuff.

The Green Market Ogdensburg,NY

Yesterday Tim and I went to the Green Market in Ogdensburg for the first time. It was a lot of fun. It's so nice to be overlooking the river. The weather held out for us too. Although it was cloudy most of the time, it never rained more than a few drops. I brought bread, blueberry mufffins and chocolate chip cookies. I sold almost everything upon arrival! I will be baking for next week for sure. We won't be at the market on June 19th as we have a workshop we're attending. North Fork Bed and Breakfast will be using locally produced foods in our breakfasts and Baker Road Bakery will be using them as much as possible in all baked goods. It's amazing how much one can find at the market. I am really looking forward to next week and hoping that we have good weather. It's raining today. Hopefully, we won't have a repeat performance of the last 3 summers of nothing but rain!

Green Market Ogdensburg,NY

Tim and I went to the farmer's market in Ogdensburg today. I brought Baker Road Bakery Bread, cookies and blueberry muffins. They were gone almost as soon as I arrived! I wasn't able to bake as much as I would have liked due to time constraints. I hope to have more available for purchase next week. We won't be at the market on June 19th as we're attending a workshop.

Lots of fresh, local foods are available at the market. You can get meat too. Tim and I are using local food and products for the B&B. It's a lot of fun to network with other vendors. Baker Road Bakery will be using fresh local eggs. The weather held out pretty well today too. It was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to next week. I'm hoping to bring cinnamon buns too! Hopefully, I'll get some baking time in this week. If you're in the area check out the Green Market in Ogdensburg.

Anyone Know Anything About Rushton Canoes?

You read the title correctly. We are looking for someone near us (Lisbon,NY 13658) that knows about Rushton Canoes.  I don't think I've ever seen it and I don't have a picture of it at this point in time either. We need someone that knows about them to let us know what kind of shape it's in and about how much it's worth. So, if you are a Rushton canoe person, please comment so that  we can start to get the ball rolling on this mystery. When I do get to see it. I am going to take pictures so that I have something I can show. In the meantime, I'm searching for information.
